Preseason preparation starts before the end of the previous season and continues over the close season. Without this careful planning and thorough process, the heavy workload demanded of the players in pre-season increases the injury risk particularly in relation to chronic, overload type injury. This maybe in the form of acute and/or chronic inflammation with new or old injuries alike. Prevention is the key in these six to eight weeks to ensure there is maximum availability of the playing squad for the season ahead.
